ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Ho Chi Minh City Open University and Nha Trang University are organizing International Conference Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management 2024: Navigating the Future of Finance, Accounting, and Auditing, to be held on 30th August 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

We invite submissions for the “Global Financial Accounting Insights Conference 2024: Navigating the Future of Finance, Accounting, and Auditing.” This one-day event will bring together experts, practitioners, researchers, and academics to discuss emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in finance, accounting, and auditing. This is an excellent platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and exploring the latest industry advancements.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

It is our privilege to welcome noted academics to present key findings of their current research.  Currently confirmed presenters include:
1. Prof. Dr. Martin Kreeb – Charlotte Fresenius University Vienna

Martin Kreeb has been working in the field of environmental and sustainability marketing for over fifteen years. He studied business administration with a focus on environmental management in Hohenheim, St. Gallen (CH) and Witten/Herdecke. In addition to his teaching activities at the universities of Tübingen, Hohenheim and Witten/Herdecke, he initiated numerous research projects in the field of sustainable development with the German Federal Foundation for the Environment, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour.

From 1998-2000 he worked at the University of Witten/Herdecke as co-founder of the German Competence Center for Sustainable Management. From 2000 to 2013 he was managing director of the NWD Institute at IBH GmbH in Stuttgart and advises well-known companies in the field of sustainability management (2013 e.g. Mack & Schüle AG, Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH, Audi AG, Daimler AG). From 2003 – 2011 he headed joint research projects in the field of sustainability management (ökoradrar, balance) des federal ministry for Education and Research (fona) at the Chair of Environmental Management at the University of Hohenheim and headed the sustainability research group there until 2017. The research group is currently working on 3 third-party research projects (BMU, MWK) with third-party funding of €550,000 and consists of 4 employees. The work of the research group focuses on transfer projects in the field of sustainability management.

Since 2010, Mr. Kreeb has been teaching business administration, especially sustainability, at the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences. Since September 2012, Mr. Kreeb has been working as the dean of studies in the self-developed master’s program “Sustainable Marketing and Leadership” and teaches the area of operational sustainability management. In 2018 he was appointed professor of bioeconomy at Bishkek State University . In 2021 he was founding rector at the Charlotte Fresenius Private University in Vienna.

Prof Nazrul Islam has more than 20 years’ teaching and research experience in internationally renowned universities across continents. Prior to joining UEL, he was an Associate Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in University of Exeter Business School and an Interdisciplinary Pathway Lead for Global Political Economy (the ESRC’s South-West England Doctoral Training Partnership). He has a good track record of teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive levels in both face-to-face and online teaching. In recognition of his teaching, he was previously awarded two university-wide ‘Above and Beyond’ awards for ‘collaboration’ and ‘impact’ in 2017 and 2018 (nominated by the then Head of Department). He is a recipient of a prestigious university ‘Teaching Excellence Award’ for his outstanding contributions to teaching and learning. In addition, he has substantial experience in developing innovative and inclusive curricula and has launched several new modules and courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

His reputation and recognition as an authority within his research specialisation is recognised through extensive invitations for keynote speaker to international conferences, editorships, member of board of directors, member of editorial board positions, and extensive review invitations from international journals and global publishers, and from research funding bodies in the UK and EU.

3. Dr. Chau Duong – University of East London, UK

Chau joined the University of East London from 2012. He holds a BSc Accounting (University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City), an MSc Finance and Investment with Distinction (University of Durham) and a PhD in the area of finance and accounting (University of Kent). He has tracked records of being sponsored for his study by various prestigious scholarships, including the Chevening, Shell Centenary and scholarship funds from the universities where he studies. He has experience working as an auditor for Ernst & Young, a freelance consultant and a lecturer teaching various modules in finance and accounting in Vietnam and the UK. Chau’s research interest lies within the area of behavioural finance, market-based accounting, corporate finance, corporate governance, earnings management, security valuation, financial technologies, blended learning and teaching, accounting and finance education.

4. Associate Prof. Dr. Norfaiezah Sawandi – University Utara Malaysia

Dr. Norfaiezah Sawandi is a chartered accountant (Malaysian Institute of Accountant), a certified practicing accountant (CPA Australia) and a certified financial planner (Financial Planning Association of Malaysia). She obtained her first degree in 2001 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (Bachelor of Accounting (Hons)-First Class), master degree in 2003 from Universiti Utara Malaysia (MBA Professional Accounting), Postgraduate Diploma (2011) and Phd in Accounting and Finance (2014) from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom. Her research interests are in sustainability reporting, corporate governance (e.g. accountability), financial literacy/planning and zakat management. Currently she is conducting several research projects under university, industry and national grants. She currently is also a visiting lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Vietnam.
